About the Owners of Discovery Central
Our names are Jeremy and Sarah Misale; we live in Negaunee, MI. We both love nature and children! We decided to start this business because we saw a need in Marquette county for a different kind of early childhood learning center.
I, Miss Sarah, am the program director. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University. My major was early childhood education through the Psychology department; my minor was communication disorders. I have many years of experience working with preschool and school aged children.
My husband, Mr. Jeremy, is also part owner. He is quick favorite among the children with his silly and adventurous personality.
We have recently branched out from the preschool and Kindergarten classroom at DC to a project called QID. You can learn more about this by visiting the QID section of our website or by checking us out on Facebook under QID.
We no longer work in the classroom at DC on a weekly basis for a variety of reasons, including the reason listed above. Another main reason is that we want to make ourselves more available for our volunteer work (construction projects, disaster relief, and teaching about the Bible) with Jehovah's Witnesses.

MEET OUR TEAM-
Hi! My name is Megan Simmons. I’m a wife, a mother of three, a dog mom, and a lover of nature. I grew up in the rural Upper Peninsula around animals, water, and woods. Marquette is a great fit for me as an adult. I get the wonderful cultural experience of a university town while still having Lake Superior less than a mile away.
For the past 13 years, I have put my love of family, early childhood development, and nature at the forefront of my life. I was able to put my Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education to good use. I had a licensed home childcare known as Megan’s Family Daycare and recently I added a Before and After School Program at a local public school. We spent our days exploring our beautiful neighborhood woods, building forts, getting messy and muddy, and learning and laughing every day. My youngest will be “school-age” this year and the time has come for me to leave my home setting.
I’m feeling very lucky to have the opportunity to continue my nature-based learning experience with Discovery Central. I cannot wait to dig in, create bonds with the children, and have fun while learning naturally.
My name is Taylor Sheldon, and I just recently graduated from Northern Michigan University with my Bachelor of Arts. I am from Alpena, MI and bought a house back in January so now my home is in Negaunee, MI.
I have worked with children my whole life, whether it be summer long babysitting growing up or while home during school breaks to more recently working at an in-home daycare center. I love working and being around children. I am very excited to be a part of a program such as this one, since I also love exploring new places in Marquette, from Sugarloaf to the multitude of hiking trails surrounding the county and as a bonus, setting up my hammock and just enjoying the peace. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet everyone!
